Research shows that many teenagers experiencing emotional difficulties find it hard to express their feelings to parents, teachers, or counsellors because they fear being misunderstood or judged, or simply do not know how to describe their emotions. Compared with human interaction, animals provide companionship without language pressure or judgement. Among them, cats offer a calm, low-intervention form of companionship, making them easier to connect with emotionally and a natural focus for emotional projection.

Based on this, I combine the playfulness, mystery, and symbolic storytelling of tarot to engage young people. Using cats as the visual companion, I designed a Cat Tarot that encourages teenagers to recognise their emotions, explore their inner world, and build a dialogue with themselves through imagery and personal reflection.
